It breaks my heart to know that on a daily basis there are thousands of little kids, adults, and elders traveling on their own to get to a place where they can feel free, safe, and comfortable. A place where the children can call “home” and not have to fear death or anything else because they feel like they will be protected anywhere but in the countries they were born in. Children leave to avoid violence, gang recruiting, and overall the dangers that are constantly challenging them even if involves them traveling on their own and, in some cases leaving their families behind. Currently, the number of children crossing from certain countries in Central America to Mexico and to the United States is increasing. Tens of thousands have crossed to avoid the violence in their hometowns of Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. Some Americans argue that we should allow immigrants to stay and others argue that we should send them back. Illegal immigration has come into view as a really big controversy that has raised political, social, and also legal issued in the more developed countries.
