Psychology of Social Justice
-The field of psychology can change the world positively by making people think differently about issues that are important to us. Psychology is the study of the human mind and it can change our minds about the world in a positive way by expanding our ideas about the things that surround us. Psychology achieves my vision about social justice by making me think that everyone should be treated equally and fairly when it comes to freedom of speech and the right to speak about anything that us humans believe it’s right or wrong in our society.
Psychology of Symptoms
-There are three psychological concepts that can cause problems to children while having deportation among undocumented immigrants in their families like signs of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress in children. In the article, “The Traumatic Effects of Forced Deportation on Families”, Robert T. Muller, talks about how children start to develop psychological symptoms when their family are being deported. According to Muller, “Some parents claim that their children cry uncontrollably when dropped off at school or day-care because of the fear of being separated from their caregivers again. Psychologists have noted signs of depression, anxiety, and even post-traumatic stress in some of these children”. This evidence is saying how children are scared of getting separated from their families and they are facing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Overall, children's families that are getting deported faced psychological symptoms, which can be treatable.
Resolving the Problems of Psychology
- There are three psychological concepts that can help recover children’s symptoms of deportation like awaring practitioners, researchers, and keeping in touch with their families. In the article, “After Parents' Deportation, U.S. Children Face Mental Struggles” Anthony Advincula, wrote about Dr.Gifford Smith, an executive director of National Alliance on Mental Illness, and what he said was that he believes that, “There are many other factors that play a role in recovery, but having a lot of support for these children could greatly improve their conditions,”. Smith is saying that if children were getting support from people and getting attention, their psychological symptoms would be decreasing and they would feel better. Also Advincula agrees to Smith about giving attention to children because he thinks by, “That support includes helping the children build close relationships with their parents, despite their separation.” What Advincula is saying is that researchers and practitioners should help support children by keeping them in touch with their families and that would make the children happy. So, children would recover from psychological symptoms if they receive more attention from practitioners who are engaged in their profession, researchers that would be able to find connection with the children families, and a way to keep in touch with their families before they get separated.
The Importance of Psychology
- The field of psychology is important to humanity because it emphasizes individual potential for growth and the role of unique perceptions in guiding behavior and mental process of the human brain. Without psychology in humanity people will not be able to think correctly and will not be able to find out why they can’t think right. Psychology is the reason why humans can figure out why we do the the things we do as a human.
Psychology Experience
- What I learned from taking AP Psychology that I found very interesting was that our brains are very powerful and it can control almost everything that we can do. The brain has sections that can determine what the mind has like the frontal lobe is where we can have movement, parietal lobe is where we are able to have our five senses of smell, touch, taste, see, and hear, occipital lobe is where we are able to have vision, and temporal lobe is where we are able to hear. By having the four lobes we are able to do the things can normally do like eat, walk, talk, and feel things with our hands. I really liked learning about the brain and what can it do because it’s crazy how our brain and mind can be doing a lot of things in the same time.
