Historical Context
As you may know immigration has been happening for a long time and hasn’t been resolved. In between the“1970s-present time large numbers of people have come from Mexico, China, Korea, India, and the Philippines, as well as other parts of Latin America and Asia”.2 So, in the book of “American Political Culture”, is saying that different types of cultures from different parts of the world have been coming to America for many reasons mostly because of how their economy is in their countries and can be assume that people came to the U.S for a better way of living and safe place to live for their families.
During the time of the 1880s “25 million foreigners arrived on American shores, transforming the country”.2 Immigration was an important event during the 1700s because many people from all over the world were coming to the U.S because they “faced religious persecution, political oppression, and economic privation back home”.2 With this event immigrants were developing America economically and was building up a melting pot which makes America unique because it has different cultures in the U.S. immigrants were not only livinging in the U.S. but they were helping America grow as in food industries, companies, and in learning how to read and write to work in the places and to adapt to society of America. Thanks to the event of immigration in the 1700s, many people have a job today because of the economy.
